Santigold‘s new LP Master of My Make-Believe dropped yesterday and the mark the occasion Santi blessed the studio audience at LNWJF with a live rendition of “Disparate Youth,” looking radiant in a hawt couture outfit and swaying to the oceanic punky-dancehall riddim from producer Ricky Blaze. The performance featured the signature twirling umbrellas and complicated paramilitary maneuvers of her back-up dancers and Santi even caught the spirit and shook her own birthright at the song’s crescendo. dope song but man she’s pretty mediocre live mang… idk i think ppl drank the kool aid and went gaga for her… saw her in nyc last year live too and it was pretty awful too.

I know what you mean. I saw her live in SF & it was pretty wack, almost like somebody doing karaoke. Also, some types of music just don’t lend themselves to live performance. I like the song, but her work is too inconsistent. The media hype machine is a mofo…People want a “next big thing” so bad, but she ain’t it…no hate-o, she cute though

  • well…

I think Santi did an amazing promotion work on her first album and had to right connections to make it blow up. She’s really creative and unique but she also matched it with impeccable promo. Anything she will do after this album will be very hard to match the hype. She might not be what you expect from her live because her voice is atypical, but the lady is really talented .

I plan on going to see her at bogarts next month for the first time. You all make me feel like I’m going to be wasting my time. I’m still going to support her.
