Video: Ryan Leslie "5 Minute Freshen Up" In-Studio
Man, I am starting to enjoy these Ryan Leslie in-studio mini-movies of him building the tracks part by part more than the actual videos. If I was him I would forget about trying to be a conventional rap star and go for a Tanya Auclair electro-acoustic performance art aesthetic. This one--where Leslie grabs up a random hotgal off twitter, swoops down in the canary yellow batmobile and brings her and 15 of her closest friends into the studio for the session--feels a little more staged to me. Like why do i think this dude Fernando's is paid to be like, You can't do that! So it'll be more dramatic when Les-more is like, I'm doing it, son! Like that is his entire job. Song is banging, though.
