Video: Kanye West “Monster” f/ Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj & Bon Iver

Way back in January, an early edit for Kanye West‘s highly anticipated video “Monster” hit the net, but it was clearly low-quality and unfinished, so we didn’t post it. However, yesterday, Yeezy put out the official and final version via his website. Being the horror buff that I am, I must say I’m feelin’ this vid (woulda been a better look closer to Halloween). Watch ‘Ye, Rick Ross, Jay-Z, and Nicki Minaj on some haunted house steez with these new visuals. If horror ain’t your thing, you might find a few of the images disturbing (and/or misogynistic). Video directed by Jake Nava. Kanye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is out now.

let be the first to say i was not impressed with this. if i have to listen to rap this would not be it. lets hear someone speak of something other than themselves. thank you pharoahe for being who you have been, and being a proper model to follow in the idea of what hip hop is. renegade music creates stress that will crush, kill, and destroy

@J Bender: Listen to “assassins” on Monche’s new album. That’s basically his version of this song (his three-rapper “banger” in the tradition of Guerilla Monsoon Rap, etc). You seriously think that’s any deeper than this? I like Pharoah Monche too but I don’t think he’s on some higher poetic level than Kanye, he’s just a better rapper. Except that he says “vernacular” in every goddamn verse, and even uses the word twice in that Assassins track I mentioned.

  assassins is an emcee song, not a pop rap song like this. monche is way above kanye and jayz. jean grae would rip up nikki any day of the week, without a gimmick look as well

There were some folks earlier this year who thought this was racist. All they saw were dead bodies of white people. AT first the visuals were kind of creepy, but then when that hairy chick at the was on there, then it was just was kind of funny for all the wrong reasons.

Personally, after about a minute and a bit of the impressive visuals, I got bored, of both the vid and track. I remember someone playing this to me ages ago and just fastfowarding it to Nicki’s bit, and tbh that’s the only entertaining part of the entire project. Not impressed.

I feel a big void when watching this kind of bullshit. Like a big freestyle with just a cheeeeeeeezy video. And no message??!!?!?

i think kanye is at his weakest when he features other people in his songs. when i first heard this on the album it felt like it was a roll call rap song. nobody can really let you know how he really feels like kanye in his songs and do a good job. i love the video and the concept. i also love how he can integrate soulful chorus at the end. im pretty sure he wants to push each of his videos to this level and beyond but people dont want to evolve music videos as much as they preach that they should. elitist rap listeners like to praise heavy lyricist rappers who all they do is walk around their videos rapping and cant envision anything past their own lyrics.
