Video: Jill Scott “Hear My Call”

The next official video off Jill Scott‘s #1 LP Light of The Sun–I don’t actually recommend you watch this unless you are up for a cleansing Thursday morning cry because if you let it in the combination of a darkened studio (stage?) and rock-bottom depth of the song will almost surely take you back to that day (whatever that day is for you). The craft and control that Scott uses to convey the emotion–rather than just letting it all hang out–gives this the feel of musical theater more than straight R&B, which will probably not be everybody’s cup of herbal tea. But whether it’s your game or not, recognize Ms. Scott plays it brilliantly. LOTS is out now, go get it.
