If you haven’t noticed by now, Jay Electronica does his art at his own pace, with his own set of rules, and his train is always right on schedule.  With a DYI approach, Jay Elect has released mixtapes and singles, created artwork and sometimes videos for them, all himself to establish and hold one of the most remarkable buzzes in Hip-Hop’s history.  So much in fact that there was a bidding war to sign him and he still till this day has never released an “official” project.

So it’s no surprise then that, after taking a week long trip to Kathmandu Nepal in the fall of 2008, these Decon produced and Jason Goldwatch shot videos (part of a suite of them) were never approved by Jay, who had already made a video for “Dimethyltryptamine” (a great one, see that below), a song that he says is based on a dream he had.

Well, long story short, this is Goldwatch’s vision for what a video for this song might look like, shot on location, and I’ve been sitting on it for over a year and half.  People have really enjoyed it when I’ve shared this, now you can too.  Posting this in recognition of May Day tomorrow, for all the people who worked hard to create these videos, part of larger project that spans the continents.

  • Chea!

Jay’s video for the track is better; however, Goldwatch’s video is not that bad. Hell, I just want Jay Elect to put out another mixtape. I thought DOOM was slow with putting out new music. Sheesh!

  • Derrick

This dude is beyond dope. Cannot wait for the album!

  • JJ

I like this dude but he has a taboo factor that makes me uneasy. That’s that New Orleans homeless shelter popping its head out.

  • Darknight Neon

will be the best ever when it is all said and done.

  • anachronist

didn’t this take place in 2008 or 2007?

Fall 2009 he toured with Mos Def and the trailer for Dear Moleskine was already out with footage of this trip, no?

  • you’re right, i lost track of time, it was the Fall of 2008 when this was shot. it was not edited until a year later.

  • sstretch

This dude got great potential and talent for real, but with him taking soooooooooooooooooo long to drop something, its starting to be a turn off. He’s like papoose in that sense, when the time comes, take advantage of it and he’s not doing it and plus he’s with ROC NATION and you know JAY-Z ain’t trying to put anybody out unless you MEMPHIS BLEEK lol Dude J COLE still waiting to come out and its been what, 4 or 5 or even 6 years?? Mr. ELECTRONICA, please drop an ALBUM.

Not much U can say bout this 1 but DaDAMN !! ” slow down sun U killin’em ” video as well as tha song …

  • Much respect to Jay Electronica! First and foremost. I don’t like the fact that he signed to Roc Nation though. I don’t see the creative mind of Jay Elec growing on a label run by Jay Z. Also, I wonder what he’s working on after he’s already put out a greatest hits album. He has all the talent in the world, but I don’t think the label is the right fit.

  • troubleman81

the goldwatch version was dope…lol. for his version, i aint a fan of video clip-videos. and jay got a lil bit of killah priest flowin on this joint.

  • KD06
