James Blake don’t know about your love but he does know something about performing live. You wouldn’t think the painful intimacy of his self-titled LP would be something you could recreate under hot lights with a studio audience looking at you you and messing about with their mobile phones, but that’s exactly what Blake did for his appearance on the UK’s answer to late-night TV Later…with Jools Holland. You have to give it to the Brits, as well. We wouldn’t get moments like this if they didn’t have an appetite discerning enough to give major-network shine to a brokenhearted ballad made entirely of piano, rimshot, a fluttery sub-bass…and that awkward outsider-art honesty Blake brings to his voice (watch “Limit to Your Love” after the jump to see what I’m on about).
