Idris Elba AKA Big Driis AKA Stringer MF Bell put together this little webisode (directed by Sheridan de Myers) on his role in our favorite new act The Bullitts, which is a sort of one-man army comprised of Jeymes Samuel and a rotating cast of cross-media guests and collaborators (so far, Samuels, Elba, Lucy Liu and Jay Electronica. I like to imagine Samuels was just a dude sitting in his room, listening to “Exhibit C” and flipping through Kill Bill and American Gangster on the telly and was like, F**k that. I need to get Stringer Bell on the team.

Either way, this webisode follows Idris en route to his epic performance with Samuel at the Big Chill Festival. As such it’s mostly ‘Dris and a few unnamed mates clowning and scrapping with each other on the road (apparently he got a mean Vulcan death-grip) which is pretty entertaining by itself. But it’s also–as he shares in a nice little morning-after moment of clarity–us watching Idris manifest a longtime dream of making music, something friends and acquaintances already know about him (full disclosure: I know Idris from the days when he was MCing at the Drive-By parties here in NY and he even voiced a few riddims for myself and Drive-By founder Dinesh. Let me repeat that: I AM FRIENDS WITH STRINGER BELL. Nothing you rap blog dudes say can touch me.) Enjoy and catch another recent Idris tune with 9th Wonder after the jump.
