Mark Ronson, Erykah Badu, Trombone Shorty, members of the redoubtable Dap-Kings and, of course, Zigaboo Modeliste all descended on the stage of the David Letterman show like a pack of Storyville wolves last night, tearing up the floorboards with a live rendition of “A La Modeliste.” Even sans Yasiin Bey–who features on the recorded version of “Modeliste” from the Re:Generation music documentary, this song was made to be heard live–preferably in a Louisiana cathouse, but national TV will do. In between the addictively simple double dutch rhymes of Badu’s vocal (“Yo Mama don’t wear no draws / We was there when she took’em off.”) are phrases so simple (“All that we are is all that we got / take all the pieces and put ‘em in the pot.”) they may stay with you forever.

Those Ice skates are hot when you see them in person. They have like a 6 inch heel screwed or glued to flat blades. They are cute. Perfect for her.
