The wordplay wizard/syllable sensei Elzhi recently sat down with HHDX back stage at one of his shows to talk about the Detroit hip-hop scene. El takes us back to the early days battle rapping in the cafeteria to first getting put on to rappers like Obie Trice, Royce Da 5’9″ and Guilty Simpson at historic Detroit landmarks The Rhythm Kitchen and The Hip Hop Shop. He then tells the story of meeting Eminem for the first time over the phone on a 3way call with Proof. He closes out the interview discussing how he has changed his lifestyle since the untimely passing of friends and collaborators Dilla, Proof, and Baatin.
