Video: dead prez “The Beauty Within”

M-1 and stic of dead prez take a short respite from the whole banging-for-freedom thing to contemplate the wonders of the female form on this video for “The Beauty Within.”  As you may remember, this is from their DJ Drama mixtape project Revolutionary But Gangsta Grillz and the beat, of course, is a nice flip of B.O.B.’s radio hit “Nothing of You.” The way the images of natural hair/no make-up beauties and Nefertiti lyrics put their afrocentric spin on the love song kind of reminds me of jams from the DJ Red Alert era; how the Jungle Brothers and Poor Righteous Teachers recognized the soul in the R&B jams of their day, but raised their consciousness a notch with their own versions.
