Usher in a still from his video for "Climax"

This Usher track “Climax” is the rare jam, in my opinion, that actually deserves to be in brainwash rotation on the radio. Spare, slow-burning and harmonically odd, it actually takes repeated listenings and chance encounters on the freeway or in a Banana Republic store to wrap your heart around what’s going on with it, emotionally and melodically. In case you felt like you were just about there, Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio has added another layer of weirdcandy to the tootsie-pop with this remix, dolloping on some offbeat 808 cowbells and haunting Augustus Pablo-style melodica flourishes (possibly left over from his dub remix for Norah Jones). Stream below and give Usher’s new LP Looking 4 Myself another shot (purchase on iTunes here).
