Tyler The Creator Embraces Mellowness On New Cut "Yellow" ft. Kali Uchis

Only a few short days have passed since Tyler The Creator's latest LP Cherry Bomb went up for sale online, but in that time the Odd Future leader has covered quite a lot of ground. The young MC paid a visit to PBS studios to talk shop with Tavis Smiley, and now he's celebrating the shipment of physical copies of Cherry Bomb--and with them the release of his brand new track "Yellow."

Tyler's new loosie features the vocals of Colombian songstress Kali Uchis (whom you may recall from the closing section of "Fucking Young.") It opens with sloppy hi-hat, lazy guitar and a lazy-day flow from the Creator, before continuing into a fuzzed-out instrumental solo. Even more guitars pile on to the meandering beat, just as horns and synthesizers make their entre. "Yellow" sounds like a the closing credits to a satisfying season finale--Tyler drawls "Now when I first you, I could tell you was the one / That I been searchin' for, I needed something that was like the sun," with the mien of all-good contentment. Any listeners who had written Tyler off as a weirdo shock-rapper will most definitely be surprised by its mellow manner; listen to "Yellow" below and stay tuned--Tyler takes the Coachella stage once again tonight and there's no telling what might ensue.
