The Throne we all been watching is finally here, available for purchase as of midnight. After weeks spent plugging any possible leaks like a couple of White House plumbers, Jay-Z and Kanye have put it out in streamable form, a sign of justified confidence in the quality of their product. I, for one, think it lived up to the hype and then some but you should judge for yourself–and while you’re at it, compare the audio to my track-by-track preview from last week and let me know how I did (be merciful on me-I was transcribing in a darkened planetarium with stars and meteors showers and shit falling on my head). And if you like what you hear, definitely go over here and enter our WTT contest for your chance to win tickets to the live show.

^^ Im not impressed either…how you gunna have beyonce kill the begining of your album?? LOLLOL …I honestly jus wish jay would quit …he snds exhausted in his raps and lazy to this point..like you’ve made great tracks man…. ok?..can u stop now..atleast for a long time lol…..and Ye…ummm i havent felt anything harder from him since graduation…power was cool..but in terms of a whole album..Im missin the old ye,the graduation album and backwards back to his beginins…that ye could be great on sum new tracks….that “grammy family” ye! that “cant tell me nothi”n ye! that “all falls down ye”

This album is dope with at least three “oh my god” moments. No Church In The Wild, Murder to Excellence, and Made In America are stunning.

This album cheesy and overprocessed like doritos. sorry!

  • Will Jennings

This is horrible. Duke Ellington is rolling in his grave. And this is a man who elevated American music to an incredible only to see his own people drag it back down into the mud.

Gotta say as a full meal, this was overall pretty satisfying. Like the Scorcese description in your track-by-track as far as this is an opus on the Black experience, good and bad, ups and downs and finding common ground among all the different experiences. I’m glad the unwelcome materialism and braggadocio didn’t totally outweigh the deeper stuff on here, and even though they kind of phoned in 70% of their verses (easily the most disappointing aspect), they manage to make some strong messages, leave a lasting impression, manage to do it without a single guest rapper, and can I just say GOTDAMN the beats on this album are out of this world!!! Really a shame they didn’t make this 5 or 6 years ago when they were more in their prime lyrically. They really dropped the ball on “Lift Off” and a few other tracks that had absolutely amazing beats and nothing but mumbling and gibberish in the verses. Still though, overall, not totally disappointed, and even a bit more impressed than I expected to be. If they had taken a few more months to really work things out on the lyrical department (if it were all on the level of “Murder to Excellence”) we’d be dealing with an absolute classic here.

I love it and I’m coping it!

  • D.HOGG

  • SteadieRoc

i found myself going to sleep on this Is wack and Im a jayz fan and mr west

  • Beezomac

Thought it was wack at first but I realized that I was expecting too much going in. But I had to change my mind set to really appreciate it. It’s a new album wit a different theme so it is what it is. Everything ain’t for everybody. 4 of 5

I love both of these emcees, I have followed them both since the beginning of their careers. For all the Okayplayers out there who expected a hip hop album from these guys I can understand your disappointment. While both Jay and Kanye are both premier hip hop artist of the past two decades, their taste has evolved into a more marketable, popular form of music. This album is a pop album, and probably one of the biggest albums of the year because of all the elements. As a hip hop album is is terrible, over compressed and way too digital for purist. This was merely an extension of BP3 and Dark Twisted Fantasy. Dumbed down lyrics and big band stye beats make for more of a Kings of Leon experience for the listener. In my opinion it is a 3.5. I don’t feel like if they went out and got Madlib, Preemo, and Q-Tip it wouldn’t have been much different as far as content.

  • fabo da future

this is a masterpiece…its not for every one to like because this music isnt for everybody…these are the modern day shakespears and edgar allen poes…..history being told before your eyes

  • p.jus tha menace

Musically the album is fire! That’s from a musician stand point. Heads i understand your frustration. Lyrically and master mix wise thought the album was rushed. Still one love too jay and kanye I think the WTT is fire
