The Soul Rebels & Talib Kweli Are Set To Wreck Stages Together In 2016

New Orleans-based brass ensemble The Soul Rebels are at it again. Over the years, this eight-man wrecking crew has backed the gamut of hip-hop's finest, seasoned and young-blooded, including Rakim,Black Thought,Pharoahe Monch, Mobb Deep,Styles P and Joey Bada$$ (not to mention shock rocker Marilyn Manson rather recently while on tour in Japan).

They've also paid tribute to modern rap giants with full-blown and lush reworks of cuts from Drake,Kanye West,Jay Z,Nicki Minaj and plenty more on their 2013 release, the Power = Power mixtape. But it's almost 2016, and the Rebels are gearing up to bring in the new year in epic fashion. In mid-February, they'll perform four consecutive nights with the Brooklyn MC, Talib Kweli, destroying stages in Philly, DC, Fairfield and Cambridge with a high-horn-powered set that will shake the walls, bandstand and your very constitution as a music lover.

Many of us already know what the seismic octet is capable of with Kweli's material in the bag (hear their lush rework of "I Try" for reference) but come February, you may just see the clique in a new light. Peep the flyer up above and if you happen to find yourself in their own stomping grounds this weekend (again, New Orleans) be sure to catch their two-night romp with Badmon at The House Of Blues tomorrow night and at Voodoo Fest Thursday night.

People take heed: The Soul Rebels' Sound System is not one to mess with.
