2017 is looking to be another banner year musically for The Soul Rebels, as it is our distinct pleasure to announce their upcoming soul at Brooklyn Bowl. If you haven’t seen this New Orleans collective then please, please, please don’t hesitate to cop tickets as their performance through March 2, 3 + 4 will be one not to miss.
Why, you ask? Well, here’s the scoop, ladies + gentlemen: Rakim, Raekwon + Jarobi are just a few of the special guests on the bill for the Brooklyn Bowl show. It made sense since The Soul Rebels linked up with Nas during last year’s Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival to have a strong nod to the culture in their Brooklyn Bowl residency.
Speaking of Nas, the March 4 show will celebrate the music of QB’s finest, along with Ms. Lauryn Hill and the livest ones from Bedford-Stuyvesant, so if you don’t go any other day this is a date you should mark on your calendar.
The Soul Rebels, who served as the Miseducation architect during her fall 2016 tour, took time out of their busy schedule to serve the needs of the people. From working with Curren$y to Talib Kweli — their journey on the road has produced some fruitful results as The Soul Rebels are planning to release a new song, “Try, Try, Try” (listen below) which we’re also happy to premiere in support of the Brooklyn Bowl shows.
In addition to that, The Soul Rebels also released a remix video of G-Eazy‘s hit single, “Me, MySelf & I,” which was created from a live collaboration between them at New Orleans Voodoo Festival. To round out the successes in The Soul Rebels win column, they will also appear in the Malcolm Lee-directed film, Girl Trip, which will star Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett-Smith.
