Prince's New Power Generation Reuniting For 2017 Tour
It appears The Revolution is not the only Prince-affiliated crew hitting the road in 2017. According to Billboard, The New Power Generation will reunite for at least one confirmed show with more to be announced in the weeks ahead. Originally a one-off reunion at Paisley Park‘s upcoming Celebration with Morris Day & The Time, The Revolution and others, NPG will now also play Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center on May 22 in California, a show they’ll record as new writing sessions begin.
But the biggest reveal here is the discovery of a handwritten note from The Purple One, praising his crew in remarkable (albeit cryptic) penmanship and referring to himself in the third-person throughout. Perfectly Prince. About a month out from the one-year anniversary of the late icon, there are already remembrances, like that in his Minneapolis compound-turned-museum, in the books. And we’re sure there’ll plenty more announced in the weeks ahead. Until then, you can at least enjoy his return to streaming platforms.
Stay tuned for more from the New Power Generation in the weeks and months ahead. US and European dates are on the way. Hit the link below to read Prince’s note to the band.
