The Crew From Philly Bring Home 3!

We have to start out the day by sending out a BIG, HUGE, GIANT congratulations to The Roots and John Legend for bringing home THREE Grammys last night for their collabo LP, Wake Up! Legend and The Roots won for ‘Best Traditional R&B Performance’ (“Hang On In There”), ‘Best R&B Song’ (“Shine”), and ‘Best R&B Album’ (Wake Up!). The three wins bring The Roots grand Grammy total up to 4, after bringing home a Grammy in ’99 for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group with Erykah Badu (“You Got Me”). Those three Grammys couldn’t have gone to a more deserving or harder working group. Other winners of interest last night include Esperanza Spalding, Bruno Mars, The Black Keys, Sade, Cee-Lo Green, Eminem, Jay-Z & Swizz Beatz, Alicia Keys, Buddy Guy, and Danger Mouse. Check Grammy.com for a full list of winners. Check after the jump for some Red Carpet footage with The Roots.

Questions: Does everyone in the group get their own Grammy statue? Or does the group have to share them like the Stanley Cup???

That girl in the background (to the left of BT) must have been “Tracy Chapman’s” date. They are matching like me and my date on the 1997 Central High School Prom at the Bellevue!!!!

  9. That’s wats up. I am very happy for the legendary Roots crew and John Legend. You’ll always have my support all the way here in Ghana.
