Video: The Coup – “Guillotine”

The Coup‘s new video “Guillotine” is undoubtedly the weirdest leak yet from their forthcoming LP Sorry To Bother You, as well as the most explicitly revolutionary:

“They got the TV, they got the truth /They own the judges we got the proof / We got hella people, they got helicopters /They got the bombs and we got the, we got the guillotine.”

A radicalized update on Motown’s The Wiz (yes, Boots Riley is the Scarecrow) with the titular killing machines thrown in, the shotgun funk and psychedelic costumes of “Guillotine” are actually more reminiscent of Parliament at their most Funkadelic. Well, Parliament meets C.L.R. James‘ The Black Jacobins. Watch below:
