The Cast Of 'Dope' Chops It Up With Ebro & Co On Hot97

With the national release date for DOPE only a few days away, two of the film's key cast members sat down with Ebro, Peter Rosenberg and Laura Stylez in the Hot 97 studio for a wide-ranging conversation about life, film and what comes next. Kiersey Clemons and Quincy Brown (but don't call him that--he's going buy just 'Quincy' these days) both joined the radio hosts and touched on a wide variety of subjects including man buns, Game of Thrones, life growing up in sunny California and Pharrell's involvement in their new film.

Clemons especially kept control of the conversation, sharing insights into her ongoing role on TV's Transparent and (we're very happy to report) checking Ebro when his line of questioning got a little too...undignified. Quincy, for his part, lauded DOPE as a potential next-genration Boys In The Hood or Meance II Society, and both actors gleamed with pride over their involvement with the feature. Absent from the conversation, unfortunately, was lead actor Shameik Moore, but by no means did his two co-stars suffer from a lack of great things to say. DOPE has already garnered a massive following amongst film festival critics and everyday ticket-buyers alike, and in this new interview we learn that it was a communication breakdown between Quincy and the higher-ups at Empire that made it possible for him to take on his role as Jaleel in the first place.

DOPE will hit screens across the entire nation on Friday, June 19th, and if you're in need of a catch-up session on the film check out the theatrical trailer. Watch the Hot97 sit-down below.
