The Black Keys Chop It Up Nardwuar
The Black Keys are the latest subject of Nardwuar's stern line of inquisition, gift-giving and thorough research. Taking the power duo back to their Cleveland roots, Nardy adorned them with record compilations from Akron rock bands that nurtured their interest and made them even more aware of Shalimar's presence outside of Ghostface Killah verses (the two are surprisingly well-versed in Wu-Tang by the way.) Which was the perfect place to delve into some of their other boom-bap-oriented projects like Blakroc, which featured collaborations with Q-Tip, Mos Def, Raekwon, RZA and virtually the entirety of the. And let's not forget the fact that they might very well be on the lam from Rocafella's Dame Dash. It certainly isn't the most in-depth of sessions the Human Serviette has ever conducted, but indie rock fans and Cleveland music nuts should take heed, as there's still plenty to redeem. The Black Keys have a new record out in Turn Blue and as someone who was never much into the group, it's actually gotten some spins in these parts.
