Taraji P. Henson Is A Badass Assassin In New ‘Proud Mary’ Trailer
Cookie’s got a gun, as the Emmy Award winner stars in a new action-thriller from the director of London Has Fallen.
Taraji P. Henson has played a deadly assassin before in 2008’s Smokin’ Aces, but now, in Babak Najafi’s newest film — the show belongs squarely to the award-winning actress. Heading into cinemas next year will be the new action-thriller named Proud Mary, starring Henson in the titular role. For those who haven’t yet heard about this, Taraji P. Henson plays a hit woman whose path crosses with a young boy who “awakens her maternal instincts.”
Henson, who is fresh off of a strong year with successes as Cookie Lyon on Fox’s Empire and as part of the ensemble cast of Hidden Figures, is seen preparing for her job by assembling her weaponry. Shown over Tina Turner’s famous cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Proud Mary,” the action revs up along with the music, as Henson changes up her style and pursues her victims.
Danny Glover, Margaret Avery, Xander Berkeley, Billy Brown also star in Babak Najafi’s action-thriller adventure. After Proud Mary, Taraji P. Henson will star as civil rights activist Ann Atwater in The Best of Enemies, which will be released sometime next year.
