Fresh off his supper club appearance (on the final episode of No Reservations) Talib Kweli hit up the Breakfast Club to chop it up about life and music and label bullshit. Particularly of note to Kweli fans is a new release date for his forthcoming LP Prisoner of Conscious, originally slated for November 20th but now pushed back to February (at least). The reason for the change is that Kweli has dismantled Blacksmith, his EMI imprint and is now putting the project out through the Duck Down-affiliated Javotti Media (who put out Gutter Rainbows). If you’re bored by all that fast forward to 2 or 3 minutes in and get some more discussion of actual music product–and all Kweli’s side hustles. And pieces.
