This past Saturday, The Hennessy Artistry Series made it's stop in Houston, Texas. The clip above gives you a brief look at a magical part of the evening with The Roots and Common on stage performing "Ain't No Half-Steppin'" with surprise guest Big Daddy Kane. Tonight is the New York stop of the series. Check after the jump for a clip of Common explaining why blending is essential to his artistry.

Speaking of talented vocalists going head to head, y'all definitely need to check this one out. Rhymefest battles it out with none other than Big Daddy Kane, bar for bar in this vid. I'm really feelin' the creativity director Konee Rok brought to this clip. If you haven't done so already, make sure you get 'Fest's new mixtape, The Manual.
Last week we told you about the trailer for the documentary on Big Daddy Kane, and today we've got the full video for your viewing pleasure. As part of the Scion Easy 10 series, Anthony Marshall made this short 17 minute doc about one of our living legends, Brooklyn's finest, BDK. Watch as Kane returns to his Brooklyn hood and gives us some great behind-the-scenes insights.
He's definitely your favorite rapper's rapper, and he may be your favorite too. We're talking about the ultimate, the legendary, the lyrical master, Big Daddy Kane. It looks like Scion has teamed up with Lyricist Lounge's Anthony Marshall to bring you a raw documentary on Kane, taking you from the streets of Brooklyn into the studio, watching BDK reminisce about the good 'ol days, and spit some new hot fire off the top, and of course featuring a visit to the barber who perfected his hi-top box cut. Watch the trailer and see how the smooth operator gets down. We can't wait for the full doc, and will keep you posted about how you can see it once it's released.
When Big Daddy Kane called us and personally requested that Okayplayer be part of his 20 year anniversary celebration in NYC, how could we say no? Besides, when we learned that Tamir and the good folks at LyricsToGo Entertainment (LTG) were presenting, we knew the production would be tight. Sure enough, tight was an understatement! I have never seen B.B. Kings as packed as it was last Friday. Check out MissInfo's video clip from the performance as NYC pays homage to one of the most influential cats in the history of the game.
NYC, tomorrow night it's Big Daddy Kane's 20th Anniversary party at B.B. Kings Blues Club & Grill on 42nd Street.
