If you still haven't listened to Diz Gibran's mixtape, Soon You'll Understand, I don't even know what to say to you at this point, but trust it's on the mixtape of the year ballot. Here is the first official vid from the project, "Truly Yours" featuring BJ The Chicago Kid. Video directed by Jerome D.
I've been waiting on this one. B.J. the Chicago Kid gives me new hope for this up and coming batch of young R&B/Soul artists. The homie Maestro just sent through this tape of original music, covers, and guest spots from B.J. entitled, A Taste of Chicago. Based on all those a capella vids we were posting, there's no doubt in my mind that the kid can sing - now check what he sounds like with a track behind him. Follow me after the jump for the download link and tracklisting.
The homie Maestro takes his vid series, Maestro Knows, on the road with this tour edition clip. Maestro follows Anthony Hamilton and B.J. The Chicago Kid as they embark on Anthony's "Playin' It Cool" tour in Houston, Dallas, and St. Louis. Watch as they hit up the local sites and get a behind the scenes look at the tour as well.
Looks like B.J. the Chicago Kid is picking up momentum for some kind of upcoming release. Today we have the second full track leaked from the kid entitled, "Denial." The last joint was cool, but I think this is an upgrade right here.
The homie Levi just sent over his latest video of B.J. the Chicago Kid singin' a lil somethin' for the camera. Vidal (of Dre & Vidal) holds down the keys, while B.J. performs " Can't Say No."
We've given you more thana couple acapella joints from dude so far, and now today we get the first leaked song from B.J. The Chicago Kid, "Nasty." I don't think anyone can question the kid's vocal ability. Now that you hear him over a beat, what do y'all think of young boi?
Laaate pass on this one, but during my last trip out to Cali this past February, I stopped by The Lions Den in Long Beach to see some of my peoples perform. There was no shortage of talent on the lineup, and once I sobered up enough to remember I had my camera with me, I recorded the remainder of the show. Watch as U-N-I performs new music off of their Before There Was Love mixtape, Diz Gibran collaborates with B.J. The Chicago Kid, Exile does an MPC set, and Blu performs new music off of the Herfavoritecolo(u)r project.
Just got hit with some more new videos from B.J. the Chicago Kid. This one is for an original song "Fantasecret" by B.J. No production needed in this clip as he sings acapella so you can hear how well this young brotha can carry a note. Check after the jump for his cover of Marvin Gaye's "If This World Were Mine."
Just got back from 80 degree weather in LA to arrive in NY just on time for the biggest snow storm of the year (ain't that some bullshit?). During my trip, I did get to meet the very talented B.J. the Chicago Kid. Dude's live vocals were just as impressive as what I had previously heard from him online. In the above clip, B.J. does his own rendition of Joe's hit single, "I Wanna Know." I have a feeling we'll be hearing much more from this kid in the near future.
I'll admit I don't know much about B.J. the Chicago Kid, but I do know that this young brother can sing. B.J. has written songs for Mary J. Blige, Musiq, Jill Scott, Mario and many others. Now, listen to one of his original songs, "Make It Right," and check out his site for some more from the kid.
