Cot Damn this dude Mikkey Halsted has been heating up this cold ass winter. Here's his video for "Karma" (Dir. Noah Banks) featuring Kaye Fox (Prod. No ID). Anthony Hamilton's new album The Point of It All hit stores this past Tuesday. His nation-wide "Playin' It Cool" Tour in support of the release just wrapped up this past week. We have some video from the tour of Mr. Hamilton covering Sam Cooke's classic "A Change Is Gonna Come." Now nobody can sing this song like Sam Cooke, but this is just about as close as it gets.
It was "the day after." The election, that is. And Anthony Hamilton was lucky enough to be performing in Obama's hometown of Chicago, where he kicked off his "Playin' It Cool" Tour in support of his new album The Point Of It All, which will hit stores December 16th. I don't know if I've ever heard a song by Anthony Hamilton that I didn't like. His latest song, "Cool," featuring David Banner, is no different. Mr. Hamilton is one of the most consistent singers out there, so everybody should be checking for his new album, The Point Of It All, when it drops November 18th.
Last night at the BET Awards '08 some of urban music's best were
honored, most notably (for us at OKP anyway) were winners Erykah Badu,
UGK and Outkast, Kanye West, and Alicia Keys. The most exciting aspect
of the night for me, however, was the Lifetime Achievement Award which
went to Al Green! After he was honored by renditions of his songs from
John Legend, Jill Scott, Anthony Hamilton, and Maxwell (??!! Yes, it's
true. Is he back?), Al took the stage and performed his smash hits
"Let's Stay Together" and "Love And Happiness" to a joyfully geeked out
audience who stood and danced and sang along throughout both songs.
