N.W.A. Straight Outta compton Preview Square
We're now less than a month away from the theatrical release of Straight Outta Compton, but those who can't quite stand the wait can catch an quick look behind the scenes of the film, courtesy of none other than Fab 5 Freddy and World Star Hip Hop. In a new video clip, Freddy sits down with Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, DJ Yella, MC Ren and director F. Gary Gray to discuss the upcoming film and what it's like to look back at over 25 years of the West Coast hip-hop collective's heritage.
"I would have never thought we'd be here making a movie about my life, man, this is crazy," Dre says in the clip, which mixes both vintage footage of N.W.A. in their heyday with behind the scenes interviews and flurry of different scenes from Straight Outta Compton. "I love that these guys have allowed me to tell their story," Gray said. "And the details that I get from Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, I think is going to set this movie apart and make it unique." We learn that the film has been shooting in some of the most potentially dangerous of LA neighborhoods in attempt to keep the final product as true-to-life as possible. As shots of battering rams, packed venues, low-riders and police shakedowns roll by, Straight Outta Compton looks better and better.
