Stevie Wonder To Produce Underground Railroad TV Miniseries 'Freedom Run'

Stevie Wonder has been tapped to produce NBC's upcoming 8-hour epic Freedom Run; a miniseries based on Betty DeRamus acclaimed Forbidden Fruit: Love Stories From the Underground RailroadThe show will be developed in tandem to a Broadway adaptation, which will also feature a score from Wonder. Freedom Run is slated to focus on 3 tribulations of three couples during one of the nation's most grotesque periods, sourced by DeRamus' extensive research and based on the trials of real people that lived at the time. There's no word on when the series is to land or even begin filming, but we'll be sure to have all of the release info as it pours out over the weeks and months to come. If you're looking for some new ear-candy from the legend, I'll point you towards Mark Ronson's masterful and sophisticated funk revue Uptown Specialwhich hosts some classic Wonderlove compositions for you to unfold.
