Another day, another great feature on The Revivalist. This latest piece features legendary funk vocalist Steve Arrington, best known as front man for Slave. This guy’s got hits for days, including “Just A Touch Of Love,” and “Watching You” among others. Above, check out The Revivalist’s sit down with Steve after his recent show at Southpaw in Brooklyn to discuss his return to the the stage (after 25 years), younger artists who inspire him, and more. We also get some footage from his comeback show where Chin Chin acted as the backing band. Below, check out an exclusive new joint from Steve and Dam-Funk with “Blow Your Mind.” The two will be putting out a collabo album, Love, Peace, and Funky Beats, this summer via Stones Throw. The funk levels on that one should be through the roof. Visit The Revivalist for more.

What a great show! It was such a cool vibe to see 20-somethings rocking out next to the ‘mature’ crowd. He seemed really sincere onstage. That comes through in his interview too. Nice work.

He’s actually studying his students and the new teachers like Madlib, Dam-Funk and Flying Lotus. No patronizing “that’s cool young folks” stuff. Massive respect.
