Statik Selektah Shares An Important Message In His New "Harley's Blues" Video

Most fans know Statik Selektah as the prolific, vintage-minded producer who's stood behind some of Action Bronson, Joey Bada$$ and Your Old Droog's finest moments. That's only half the story, however. Putting his notoriety toward a noble cause, Statik has turned his new music video for "Harley's Blues" off of his superb Lucky 7 LP into a public service announcement for HG (hyperemesis gravidarum), a disease that can endanger pregnant women and increase the possibility of birth defects in newborn babies.

Selektah's wife Fran was stricken with HG, but was very thankfully able to have it treated in time. The result was a beautiful and healthy baby girl, Harley, for whom the brief instrumental track is dedicated to and named after. The beat, you may notice, features heartbeat sounds, which were in fact taken from prenatal recordings of Statik's own daughter.

The video arrived Wednesday along with the following message:

The disease is extremely serious and can cause birth defects, as well as be life threatening to both mother and child. To raise awareness of this disease that often goes mis-diagnosed, due to similarities with morning sickness, Statik has created a video with his fiancé, encouraging more women and families to be aware and get tested if they suspect there is something wrong.
