Spike Lee Takes Us Behind The Scenes Of His Epic BK Block Party In A 'Do The Right Thing' Mini-Doc

Brooklyn stand up! Spike Lee has taken the liberty of taking us into every nook and cranny of his cornerstone period piece Do The Right Thing in a 20-minute romp of Bedford Stuyvesant (the livest one, naturally) The short-film tours the block of Stuyvesant Ave (from Mookie's crib to Sal's Pizzeria) where the movie was filmed and provides a crucial and intimate account of the block party that took over our pocket of King's County this past June.

While the film's anti-police brutality sentiment reigns truer than we'd ever hoped at nearly three decades down the line (with Spike himself drawing lines between Radio Raheem and Staten Island brutality victim Eric Garner) the doc follows Spike on a trip down memory lane as he interviews locals with members of the film's expansive cast. At the end of it all, we land in the Stuy, at the center of a historic meeting of minds and artistry, where Mos Def, Dave Chappelle, Erykah Badu and Public Enemy all came out to show love. We gave y'all the OKP angle already, but now it's time to get Spike's eye-view. Watch the documentary and get reacquainted with Do The Right Thing's message below.
