Anna Wise of Sonnymoon in a video still from "Nothing Thought"

Not sure how this new Sonnymoon video for the sublime “Nothing Thought” slipped by me but this might be my favorite joint from the duo yet; all the vibey ambience you’ve come to expect from a Sonnymoon plus knocking 90s-rap drums and a bassline that rides out like an ancient mating call. The video itself wavers between home movies and Bill Viola-styles video experiments that are giving me flashbacks to some acid I never took (check 1:39, right before the knocking drums come in). With a haunting hook worthy of Feist–”Take nothing with you when you go / What did you learn, who did you know?”–the whole sh*t is like a ghost story thats more wistful than scary. Come to think of it, I do know how this got by me–everybody who watched this immediately went outside to watch the raindrops fall instead of reposting it on the interborg. (Except me).
