Solange has wowed critics and gained new fans with her new album A Seat At The Table, and soon her hard work will be rewarded with an appearance on Saturday Night Live.

The versatile singer/songwriter will be the show's musical guest on November 5. Actor Benedict Cumberbatch -  known for The Imitation Game, Star Trek Into Darkness and Marvel's upcoming Dr. Strange - will also appear on the episode.

Solange scored her breakthrough album with A Seat At The Table in recent weeks. The record has been praised by critics and new fans for its rich musicality and its statement on the highs and lows black womanhood. The numbers support her as well, as it's her first album to top the Billboard 200 chart.

The new album's success comes years of releasing her own music (this is her third album) and co-writing songs such as "Get Me Bodied" and "Upgrade You" for her sister Beyoncé. She announced that she completed the album in June, on her 30th birthday.

Solange's appearance on Saturday Night Live continues a strong start of musical performances for the new season. The Weeknd performed "Starboy" and "False Alarm" on the SNL Season 42 premiere three weeks ago; Bruno Mars brought the house down with his single "24K Magic" and the debut of a new song called "Chunky" last week; and Lady Gaga performed this past Saturday night.
