Quantcast

Did we mention we discovered some of our new jams-of-the-moment off this Jewels From Jakarta compilation (stream/download it here)? That’s the definitely the case with boom-bap masterbrewer  Shuko, who’s  “Best Friends” track is a postcard from Europe that somehow manages to be the perfect soundtrack for summertime in New York City. Okayplayer is extremely proud to host the world premiere of it’s video, which coincidentally looks like a lot like a postcard from Europe and summertime in NYC–and it can’t be easy doing both at the same time. The 2nd half of the vid is actually a teaser for another sterling instrumental called simply “Beautiful,” which you can stream/download via Shuko’s bandcamp below (I expect three freestyles from all of you to be on my desk by close of business today). Both berliners (<–anybody see what I did there? JFK x J Dilla. Get it.) are off Shuko’s forthcoming LP Cookies & Cream 2, which also features cameos from Talib Kweli, Evidence, C.L. Smooth and (with beats like these, we can assume) a grip more profile MCs. Do yourself a flavor and jot those names down on a piece of paper or make-a-note-of-it device of your choice–then put “Best Friends” on loop and go lay in the grass somewhere. Happy summer.
