Big news, world! Tennis icon and one of the greatest athletes of any generation, Serena Williams, is pregnant with her first child.
As of typing this, the internet is exploding with congratulations and kudos for the world-renowned champion. Engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexi Ohanion, Serena the Great announced her wonderful news through Snapchat, as you can see in the photo below.
If anyone could be born to a great woman, this child has the golden ticket. Serena has advocated for black people, fought alongside the Black Lives Movement and addressed body-shaming and racism that she has faced throughout her career. “I’ve had people look down on me, put me down because I didn’t look like them — I look stronger,” she explained to Sports Illustrated in 2015.
“I’ve had people look past me because [of] the color of my skin, I’ve had people overlook me because I was a woman, I’ve had critics say I [would] never win another Grand Slam when I was only at number seven — and here I stand today with 21 Grand Slam titles, and I’m still going.”
Now, at 20 weeks pregnant, the actress-fashion-designer-and-champion will be a mother for the ages. Hell, she even competed in the Australian Open and won her seventh title in the tournament while pregnant.
Here’s what the eStreets are saying about the pregnancy below:
