Pass The Popcorn: Watch The Official Trailer For A&E's 'Roots' Reboot

A little while back, we learned that A&E and The History Channel were looking to reboot Alex Haley's renowned Roots mini-series. Today, we learn that not only has the film left its production phase, but an official trailer has surfaced, allowing for us to finally lay our eyes upon the anxiously-awaited revamp.

The series was crafted with an intimate grasp of the original series and its historical significance, tapping actorLeVar Burton (who starred as Kunta Kinte in the original series) as executive producer along with Korin D. Huggins. Malachi Kirby will take the reins of the next-gen Kunta, while Laurence Fishburne stars as Alex Haley and Forest Whitaker takes on the role of "Fiddler." Our very own Questlove will be at the helm for the score, acting as executive music producer for the show (Roots on Roots on Roots) rounding out a stellar team. Roots is slated to premiere on Memorial Day (Monday, May 30th) as a 4-night, 8-hour series. Watch the first official trailer below and hold tight for the imminent right-wing jabs that are to follow.
