Coding is the future, kids. You’ve been warned.
Super hip-hop fan Robbie Barrat is a 17-year-old West Virginia native who shocked technophiles with his artificial intelligence that can not only spit a mean 16, but does with the swagger of a Chicago MC legend.
Barrat taught himself how to do this and used open-source code AI to build a digital rapper in only a week. According to Quartz, who profiled the teen, he trained the most current iteration using 6,000 Kanye West lyrics and can generate its own bars. Interestingly enough, the rapping AI is still learning how to grasp the concept of “flow,” as Barrat said in his sit down with Quartz.
“Originally it just rearranged existing rap lyrics, but now it can actually write word-by-word,” he said.
