Stacy Barthe - 'P.S. I Love You' [EP Download]

Grammy Nominated singer/songwriter Stacy Barthe returns with her latest EP P.S. I Love You. Barthe, a Brooklyn native has been making waves since her debut EP Sincerely Yours, Stacy Barthe--a release that was deeply personal and well overdue by the time Barthe dropped the project in 2011 after writing and laying backing vocals for a who's who of pop stars. If you've missed her previous gems, Barthe surfaced around the same time as Cali wunderkind Frank Ocean and has since signed to John Legend's Homeschool imprint on Motown and written tracks for Rihanna, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Alicia Keys, and Kelly Rowland. Thankfully, though, Barthe never stopped writing for herself. This EP is lead by the standout single, "Flawed Beautiful Creatures" (see artwork above) wherein her words display a diarist's intimacy and juxtapose the more difficult questions about life and love with a backdrop of suffocatingly beautiful music.

"Is it a crime if a man kills to protect his own from harm's way? Who will be the judge anyway? What would you have done if the gun was in your hands? If you were in his shoes? Guess you'll never know what you won't do. 'Cause in the moment it might seem like the thing to do."

While Barthe's voice is an awesome commodity in itself, it is her writing that makes her an irrefutable standout. Seemingly a stickler for tight production, Barthe shines on the reggae-driven "Home In My Heart"; "Hell Yeah" featuring Rick Ross; "Silent Screams" and "Lonely Disco Ball" - a hard pop track for all of the balloons and broken hearts left on the dance floor after the prom. She'd be totally justified to continue riding the wave of her previous work, but Barthe sallies forth with another solid release. She hits the nail on the head again with P.S. I Love You - and on Valentine's Day, no less. Don't be foolish. Grab this joint.
