OKP Premiere: LA 8-Piece Purple Crayon Deliver Their Haunting & Soulful Ballad "After You" Live In Session

Purple Crayon is an LA-based 8-piece soul upstart with a whole lot on their plate. Aside from attempting to -- and achieving-- a scrumptious synthesis of Motown studio band chops and music school technicality, the band finds their own corner of the spectrum and settles in. They've graced us with the privilege of premiering their inaugural clip, which struts all of these sentiments in a blazing, at times even haunting performance of the song "After You" from their debut self-titled EP. What you'll find is something of an anomaly in the contemporary soulmatic r&b landscape, where vocalist Teira Church soars and keyboardist Ted Case lilts (who also handle the bulk of songwriting for the ensemble) and lead a hefty crew of seasoned string players and a fiery rhythm section, comprised Andrew Boyle on drums and Nick Campbell on bass. Each equally virtuosic and fully equipped to make the musical trek through a ballad that echoes the many mountains and valleys of emotion one runs through when in pursuit of that most coveted love. Watch LA's Purple Crayon perform "After You" live in session below and grab a copy of their self-titled debut EP via Bandcamp if you need an extra serving.
