New Prince Single
Alert the media & sh*t--Prince Rogers Nelson debuted a new Prince single on radio! "R&R Affair" --rendered someplaces as "Rock & Roll Love affair"--has hit the webs in streaming form and the first blush on this joint is that it's a solid, classic 80s-style jam from the Prince-that-we-miss. Melodically it's right in the Purple Rain/Paisley Park wheelhouse, with chords reminiscent of both "Raspberry Beret" and "Take Me With You." In fact the only innovation that's been introduced to the purplous one's sound appears to be a little twinge of...country? Something about this reminds me of the Traveling Wilburys "Handle Me With Care." Whatever, a new Prince single, we'll take it--just keep 'em joints coming. Rumor has it, this song had a video shot the same day as his "People Pleaser" with protége Andy Allo (if you're not up on her sound, get up to speed with this interview on Afrobella) so possibly real moves are afoot?
