Prince Pulls A Prince, Deletes All Social Media Accounts

Prince seems to be back in internet dodging mode, as today it was revealed that all of his official social media accounts have been deleted, vanishing into the thin Minnesota air. That includes his Facebook account (which was an absolute sensation); his Instagram account, as well 3rdEyeGirl's Youtube and Twitter accounts; all gone and with no explicit justification for their demise. It's yet to be established whether the accounts are under maintenance or whether their presence represented another torn page out of the Purple PR book, but it's a little disheartening nonetheless and certainly doesn't bode well for those of us who were just starting to take comfort in the fact that they could get their daily dose of Paisley Park fandom on the interwebz.

There is of course, another possibility. That Prince, like many of us here at Okayplayer and across the country (hell, world) was so disheartened at the results of Tuesday night's grand jury decision in Ferguson, that he decided to quit America. I suppose to understand his true motivations we'll always have to wait for his take in some sort of AMA, the kind where thousands of questions are submitted and he chooses to answer one obscure question about the benefits of recording in 432 hz. We'll always have that, his blazing 8-minute long jam on SNL and, oh, that's right; not one, but two new albums that debuted at the top of r&b and rock charts respectively. So no need to panic, let's just cherish those moments we were graced with and hope the Purple One decides to come down from his compound up north some time soon to hit the world with a proper tour to support his records. Cop them on iTunes today.
