Prince is a man defined by spontaneity. Whether he's announcing and canceling shows in the same breath, opening the doors to Paisley Park to celebrate the30th anniversary of his audiovisual masterpiecePurple Rainor deleting all of his social media accounts a mere month after establishing them, we know we can always count on Prince to catch us slipping. So when the Purple One hops on stage for a few minutes to take The W Hotel's Jazz Night to the delta on a bluesy detour, we can hardly act surprised.
And yes, he did just that, taking to the stage during Ryan Edgar and Nikki Leonti-Edgar's set and grabbing the axe just long enough to rip through a few licks...before stepping off stage to resume whatever it is he does when he's not being the most eccentric man in show business (maybe he wears sweatpants every once in a while, who knows?) In any case, The Kid came through with another choice performance, proving once more that he's yet to miss a step on the six-string.
