Prince Announces His Forthcoming 'Hit N' Run' LP Will Drop September 7th...As A TIDAL Exclusive

Gotta say, it's getting tough to keep up with where Prince stands in this whole streaming war thing. First he strips his whole catalogue from Spotify, then drops a single exclusively on Spotify, and then today, announces that his forthcoming album will stream exclusively on TIDAL, of all places. Which is all good and well, and certainly keeps the purple mystique rolling, but damn P, can we just get a little consistency? Then again, it is his craft, his art, his music and ultimately, his decision as to what to do with it all, as we'll inevitably get a subscription to whatever service, no matter how obscure and Princely that service may be. There's no telling if TIDAL alone will host the album or whether we'll eventually be able to purchase it elsewhere, but one things remains absolutely certain, that Prince will put his next record out on September 7th, and we'll just have to sit and wait to see how it arrives. If you need something to hold you over, put your ears to the first two singles from the record, "Stare" & "HARDROCKLOVER," down below along with his full statement on the matter and keep you eyes on us for the latest in this Prince saga.

"After one meeting, it was obvious that Jay Z and the team he has assembled at TIDAL recognize and applaud the effort that real musicians put in 2 their craft 2 achieve the very best they can at this pivotal time in the music industry," Prince said in a statement. "TIDAL have honored Us with a non-restrictive arrangement that once again allows Us to continue making art in the fashion We've grown accustomed 2 and We're Extremely grateful 4 their generous support."
