Premiere: SmCity Links With Cookin' Soul For "Kerry Washington"

Washington, D.C.’s own SmCity continues to showcase his business acumen by partnering up with some of hip-hop’s finest musicians. Presenting his new single, “Kerry Washington,” the Twenty20 Music rap artist with an undeniable fire links with Cookin’ Soul, Nitty Scott MC and Adam E to rhyme about the baddie from ABC’s Scandal.

“Kerry Washington represents so much to us,” SmCity told us via e-mail interview. “She was Django’s wife, [she is] Olivia Pope and I think to black women she is right next to Beyoncé on Mount Rushmore. [So] when I say, ‘Baby girl is my Kerry Washington,’ that is the ultimate compliment.”

The single is preceded by the track, “Black Moses,” which features the one, the only lyrical juggernaut Planet Asia. For those looking to get a bit of flavor in your life, press play and witness the real in audio form, as SmCity’s “Kerry Washington” serves as a prelude of sorts for his new collaborative EP with Cookin’ Soul entitled New History.

Listen to “Kerry Washington” below, and don’t forget to shell out those few bucks to cop New History when it becomes available this week on September 9.
