Please Rise As John Legend Performs The National Anthem At Game 1 Of The NBA Finals

Okayplayers, please rise and place your right okay-sign hands over your hearts as John Legend--singer/songwriter, Grammy and Golden Globe-winner and OKP fam for life--kicks things off sorta properly by singing the National Anthem for the assembled crowd at Game 1 of the 2016 NBA Finals. We already knew your man had pipes but the rockets of "The Star-Spangled Banner" never glared so red 'til Legend blessed the familiar stanzas with the full "Rolling In The Deep"/"Ordinary People" treatment (or as some notable commentators within the twittersphere have put it: "even the national anthem sounds like a negro spiritual when John Legend singing.")

All the soul he could muster was not quite enough to inspire his Cleveland Cavaliers to victory (yep, he is John Legend for all Americans but we know who Ohio native was really singing for). But whether you're also repping for the Cavs over the Cav-nots (strong third quarter, but no cigar) or betting the castle on The Golden State Warriors to go all the way (1-0! Sorry, Kevito) we can all agree the series is off to an auspicious start. John's just-feels-right symbolic christening of this NBA finals ship just solidifies the general mood in the air that we're about to embark on one of the most exciting NBA Finals in recent history. A true "Okayplayer" moment. Watch our guy's rendition of "Star Spangled Banner" below and stay tuned for Games 2 thru Infinity...
