The Roots perform live at Wall Ball 2012 for Philadelphia's MuralArts Program, May 31st

On Thursday May 31st–roughly two weeks from today–The Legendary Roots Crew will be honored by Philadelphia’s Mural Arts Program at a little thing called Wall Ball 2012. In addition to raising funds for the city’s educational programs the evening will introduce the Roots Mural Project:

“a new endeavor which includes an art education curriculum (Roots 101) rooted in engaging and empowering students to tell their stories through various medium, including drawing, photography, collage, and more.”

It all goes down at Cescaphe Event Group’s gorgeous new venue, Vie (600 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130). Celebrity chefs Jose Garces of Garces Restaurant Group and Marc Vetri of Vetri Family will make a special appearance at the 5:30 p.m. pre-reception, as Chef Gregg Ciprioni of Garces Trading Company and Chef Damon Menapace of Vetri’s Alla Spina provides samplings from their renowned Philadelphian restaurants. The main event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for a night full of cocktails, dinner stations, silent and live auctions, art-making, dancing and live performances by some of Philadelphia’s most talented DJs, including DJ Statik of the Illvibe Collective and DJ Brendan Bring’em. At 9:00 p.m., Young Patrons will arrive for the Young Patrons party that will go to 10:30 p.m., followed by the official Wall Ball after party at Vie’s neighboring Stephen Starr Restaurant, Route 6.
