Pharrell, John Legend & Beyonce Come Out On Top At NAACP Awards

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

If you're one of the millions without cable in the NYC area, you probably missed this weekend's NAACP Awards, where Pharrell, Beyonce and John Legend topped nominees in each of their respective fields. Legend took home the honor for best male artist, while Bey took down the female honor and Pharrell continued to bask in the glory of what has certainly been his most prominent year of recording, taking down the honor for best collaboration with Robin Thicke and T.I. (a curious choice for the nominating committee, as Thicke and P were entrenched in legal escapades with Marvin Gaye's estate for likeness in their "Blurred Lines" romp) On the cinematic side of things, the honors for best film were swept by Steve McQueen's 12 Years A Slave and Lee Daniels' The Butlertwo films that are getting ready to take on The Oscars' nomination committee at the end of this week.
