Pharrell's 'Despicable Me 2' Smash "Happy" Gets A Bubbly Synth Remix From Montreal Producer Kaytranada.
Pharrell's Despicable Me 2 smash "Happy" gets a new set of legs with an edgy remix of the bouncy track from Kaytranada. Proving he's more than capable of hanging in there with the celebrated Virginia Beach super-producer, Kaytranada serves up a percussive clinic that shines with the addition of some synths, vocal effects and decidedly bright moments. A backbone of claps and an irresistible chord break toward the end make this rework worthy of a few repeat spins. Not sure if this joint was ever intended to be an official remix, but it could have been a contender. The only problem with Kaytranada's take is that it shows up so late in the "Happy" lifespan that it may not get love it deserves as people tire of the viral ditty.
