Our fellow Illadelphians at Philly Music magazine and WXPN have teamed up lately on an excellent series of webisodes they call the “Key Session.” As the name suggests, the format is as much studio session as interview and all the artists involved have the chance to perform live as well as break down their process in an organic back and forth that would be pretty hard to achieve in any other setting. Though the series has just barely started, WXPN’s blog The Key has already posted Sessions with Peedi Crakk (below), Reef The Lost Cauze (bottom) and Ethel Cee (after the jump). We learn some interesting nuggets from each of the above–for instance did you know Peedi was working on a screenplay for an independent film? Or that he writes his verse 5-at-a-time, with 5 beats and 5 sheets of paper going at once. Click play to get the full science and hit the link at the foot of the post to get audio of the sessions and more from the Key.
