Pass The Popcorn: Kevin Hart & Dwayne Johnson Try To Save The World In 'Central Intelligence'
Dwayne Johnson is experiencing a level of hype in the entertainment industry that is worthy. Simply put, the guy is maxing out on television and in films, just like he did when he was the WWE Heavyweight Champion. To place it into context, Kevin Hart is now regarded as second fiddle in the action-comedy piece called, Central Intelligence.
Allow us to introduce you to the first trailer of the flick, where Hart and Johnson play former high school students who, on the eve of a class reunion, are forced to foil a plot that threatens the safety of free world. The kicker to this picture is that Johnson used to be a bullied loser (you can see why in the YouTube video below) and Hart was the most popular kid in high school turned accountant.
Now, fast forward and Johnson’s character is a contract killer for the CIA who wants Hart’s character’s help to foil a terrorist’s plans to sell classified military secrets. If you’ve already watched the trailer and believe this to be the same plot as Ride Along with Ice Cube, you’d be right, except that the comedic film replaced the N.W.A. rapper with The Rock. Prepare the short jokes in mass, especially when you check Dwayne Johnson’s track record.
“The inspiration behind this character ‘Bob’ has always been Tom Hanks in Big with an added twist,” Dwayne Johnson wrote of his Central Intelligence movie character on an Instagram post earlier this year. “He’s a grown man who’s extremely childlike and views the world thru exuberant and enthusiastic teenage eyes while wearing his favorite Public Enemy shirt, cargo pants and sneakers to work.”
To add to the mix, Johnson’s character has an extremely high IQ and is one of the most lethal men on the planet. Central Intelligence as a movie places The Rock and Kevin Hart as two physically mismatched stars in an attempt to have fun, kick ass and save the world. Directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, We’re the Millers) — the New Line Cinema and Universal Pictures produced picture also stars Amy Ryan, Ed Helms, Danielle Nicolet and Bobby Brown.
Central Intelligence is slated to hit theaters June 17, 2016. Watch the trailer and share your thoughts in the comments section or on Twitter @Okayplayer!
