In between touring, raising babies, squashing rumors and taking names Erykah Badu still has quite a few musical projects in the air. Speaking to the Wall Street Journal this week she mentioned that she is working on a project with “Gone Baby“-producer animator/director Flying Lotus (something he had already tweeted about) and also revealed for the first time that she is collaborating with Damon Albarn‘s animated group The Gorillaz:
“I’m making an album right now with a guy named Flying Lotus. I’m working on a project with The Gorillaz. I’m always doing something. It doesn’t always make headlines, but I’m always making art – always. I deliver babies. That’s what I do – that’s the art that I’m focusing on right now for the most part. I’m a midwife.”
That last bit is literal, by the way. Erykah is a doula who assists at live human births, as well artistic ones.
